+Historically magnetic media had limited space.  So, in order to save disk space only the raw data was saved.  The more easily read "D" file was printed on paper.  To save paper, only diagnostics or measurements to ensure proper instrument function was printed.
+As magnetic storage became larger, space was no longer a concern and this command was no longer needed within the Canadian Brewer Spectrometer Network.  A PF at the end of a command string will ensure any remaining data in the computer buffer is emptied and written to the “D” file, however the results of commands following the PF will no longer be written to the "D" file.
