Prometheus Lens (costs 29 Legendary Shards) is an exotic Trace Rifle that's considered to be the strongest weapon in the game right now. It's overpowered, especially in PvP, thus giving players who wield the exotic weapon an edge over those who don't. While Bungie plans on nerfing the weapon on December 12, they decided to temporarily give everyone a fighting chance (and wreak some havoc at the same time) by making the Trace Rifle available for everyone to purchase as Xur. That means for two+ months since Destiny 2 has launched the game has been robbing players of a massive amount of in-game earnings that otherwise have a real-world value since they're being sold. And Bungie had it running this way without indicating anywhere that this was the case. Sketchy?

No mention of making up for the lost rewards or the monetization aspect here of course and there's another layer to just how bad this really may be. Trust has been broken and at a time when big publishers are on blast for manipulating and nickel-and-diming players, this is a particular bad look on Bungie and Activis
