The reveal for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl showcased a lot of what players can expect from the game when it comes out later this fall. The longstanding popularity of the Super Smash Bros. series has produced numerous copycat games which sought to emulate Nintendo's success. Some have certainly been more successful than others, but there's now a new contender that has the potential to provide a truly unique fighting game experience. If you skip to 0:35 and pause the screen, you’ll see Patrick Star dropkicking Nigel Thornberry, which understandably draws your eye away from the rest of the frame. Once I saw the white buildings adorned with green and yellow, my mind instantly went to Ba Sing Se - but it could have been somewhere else, right? As distinctive as Ba Sing Se is in Avatar, the portrayal here is 2D and nondescript outside of a vague coloration similarity.

 
Super Smash Bros. games always included a plethora of characters from other Nintendo titles, and this culminated in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate creating debates over which characters should have been included. It's a rare thing when a cartoon-based video game gets as much buzz as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has thus far. The small arenas provide chaotic fun against human opponents, and there's definitely fun to be had with Override 2 with a group of like-minded buddies on a couch. However, the online focus and complete lack of a campaign structure kill any drive to keep unlocking cosmetics and bots in single player, and those are the only two options available. As previously mentioned, whether players choose to quick match or go into the campaign, most of their fights will be online against other players. Override 2 will default into bot matches if necessary, and that might be an inevitability. Even in its first week, Override 2 struggled to fill up anything but a one-on-one matchup, and the fights against AI are nothing to write home about. Many of the arenas are small enough that's it's easy to overwhelm a computer opponent with a series of spam attacks, and that complete lack of complexity combines with the endless dialogue on a static menu to make for a painfully boring endea

 
While Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 's confirmed roster list seems like a nice homage to the cartoon producer, the game will face some challenges considering its comparisons to Super Smash Bros. One of the biggest potential issues could come from the roster's size. Ever since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brought party-fighting game rosters close to the triple digits, some gamers have come to expect a wealth of options for who they can play as.
