The Construction Tool is used to build bases in Dune: Awakening , which in the long run can be quickly recreated through Blueprints. Dune: Awakening has promised some intense base-building mechanics, but for now, we kept it simple and began with a basic little house. Later on, as we acquired more crafting stations, we did need to make a second story for our base. With our house constructed, Zantara instructed us to gather more resources to craft a Blood Extractor and a Blood Sack: another method of hydration. After defeating enemies, players can use a Blood Extractor to store a certain amount of blood in a Blood Sack. Players can drink that raw if necessary (which includes penalties) or purify it at their base. We were taught how to do so before becoming exposed to Spice and receiving a vision directly us toward The First Trial of
In an interview with PC Gamer , Creative Director, Joel Bylos pointed to a “ single point ” that Funcom changed while working closely with the family of Dune author Frank Herbert, which was a major catalyst in the original story. While he didn't elaborate on what this exact moment was, he did reveal that many characters who died early in the Dune story are alive and can be interacted with in Dune: Awakening , including Duke Leto Atreides.

For example, Lady Jessica is pregnant with Alia in Dune: Part Two , and with Leto surviving for eight more years, it's possible that he would get to know his daughter better, potentially changing her destiny too. The Bene Gesserit wanted Lady Jessica to have a girl, so it's extremely possible they could have turned their attention to Alia instead. Alternatively, they could turn to Feyd-Rautha and the Harkonnen side of the family tree to attempt to birth the Kwisatz Haderach, being an even more extreme departure from the source material.
While Dune: Awakening might happen in an alternate timeline , it features all the core iconic “classes” that exist in the canon, designed around specific archetypes established in the novels and modeled aesthetically around those seen in the screen adaptations to some extent. Each of the five classes includes its own skill tree with distinct featured abilities. Dune: Awakening's featured classes are Swordmaster, Mentat, Bene Gesserit, Trooper, and Planetologist, and eventually, you'll want to incorporate skills from each class to have available in different situati
Mentats can specialize in the Mental Calculus, Assassination, and Tactician skill trees . Mental Calculus will make your ranged accuracy more precise and help exploit weak points on enemies across Arrakis. The Assassination tree includes skills that enable single-target elimination through the use of poison and a unique Hunter-Seeker ability that kills enemies without causing alarm. Finally, the Tactician skill tree focuses on support skills and controlling crowds of enemies, as well as manipulating aspects of the battlefield during larger combat encount
This first tip is explained to you early on in the game, but it's easy to miss just how important it is. When traversing Arrakis, if you spend too much time in the sun, it's easy to suffer heat stroke. Before you have a Stillsuit researched, your water is one of your most precious resources, and still is even after you have the Stillsuit equipped.
Getting there required us to test everything we had learned so far, as it was the longest trek across Dune Awakening guide presented to us so far. Getting there took us through a stealth sequence, where we were tasked with the sight of gigantic eyes. As we did so, voices narrated various events surrounding the Fremen and Mauddib (although this would not be in reference to Paul per Dune: Awakening 's spin on the lore ). Completing this trial saw us receive a new task from Zantara: finding a moisture-sealed cave to acquire some Fremen compone
It is not Minecraft where punching trees can result in resources; this is Dune. Dune is complex and hard to translate to any other medium, so working with tools like cutterays and various fabricators is something new, surviving the sands of Arrakis is complex, and engaging with all of its features is intensive. Teaching players how all of this works is a must, and the early hours of Dune: Awakening are wholly focused on teaching players to survive the hostile pla
Dune Awakening’s biggest change to the world is its story, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see much of it. Staying away from the world of Denis Villeneuve’s films, you play as a generic prisoner who’s sent to the desert. Of course, political intrigue quickly rears its head, but I’m told it becomes the focus later in the game as more characters and narrative arcs are introduced. I can’t comment on how the story will play out, but I wish the player character had a voice. One-sided conversations are always awkward in games like this and Awakening could have bucked this tr
